HI friends,
it’s just over a week to the start of the ASEAN Puppetry Festival. Frankie is busy working on the Festival Finale, ‘A Thousand Faces, One Vision’, which will feature the combined effort of the various delegates of the Festival. The Finale will be held at the Goodman Arts Centre on 10 November at 8pm. Admission is free.
In the mean time, I’d like to introduce the three ticketed events to you. Tickets for these are available at SISTIC. Here they are:
Papermoon Puppet Theatre – ‘Mwathirika’
A non-verbal puppet play on the loss of history, and the history of a nation’s loss.
Shouldn’t it be that if we know what has happened in the past, then we can understand why we stand here now, and where we want to go in the years to come?
Moyo and Tupu are siblings, raised by their father, Baba, a hardworking man with one hand. They are a happy family, neighbours with Haki who has a daughter, Lacuna, who is wheelchair-bound. They are good neighbours, who live “side by side.” Their peaceful neighbourhood suddenly undergoes a huge change, beginning with a enormous conflict between the powerful, a strata they have never understood. And that change starts only with a triangle drawn on their door, and a small red whistle.
