Trip Report: Second International Marionette Festival Hanoi 2010

Dear friends,

our latest puppetry production, Streets of Singapore premiered at the Second International Marionette Festival 2010 in Hanoi, Vietnam from 6 – 9 September, which included public shows as well as a competition segment featuring 19 different puppetry groups from 12 countries.

We’re glad to announce that Frankie and team received top honors at the Festival. Frankie was singled out for excellent skill in puppetry by Ngo Quynh Giao, chairman of the jury.

We received the following awards:

  1. Gold Award for Best Performance (director and choreographer: Frankie Malachi)
  2. Gold Award for Best Artist (Individual)
  3. Special Award for Excellence in Puppet Design

The Gold Award for Best Performance is the top prize of the Festival.

Frankie also received the top award for individual puppeteers, the Gold Award for Best Artist (Individual). Mascots and Puppets Specialists also received the Special Award for Excellence in Puppet Design. The Best Performance and Best Artist (Individual) awards were the two top awards of the Festival.
